Woman dies after being mauled to death by pet dog

A woman has died after being mauled by her pet dog in Coventry.

The woman, reportedly in her 30s, was attacked inside a property on Wexford Road just after midday.

She was found in a critical condition, with officers taking her outside due to “safety concerns”.

The woman died shortly after paramedics gave her life support.

The dog has been seized by West Midlands Police and the woman’s death reported to the coroner for further investigations.

West Midlands Police has not yet confirmed the breed.

However, officers do not believe the dog is a banned breed.

The force can only confirm the breed once a full assessment has been conducted.
