A fight at a Lidl supermarket has resulted in a shop worker being taken to hospital after being hit on the head with a bottle.

The staff member at the store on Whitchurch Lane in Bishopsworth in Bristol suffered a head injury as officers were called at around 8.25pm yesterday.

He was discharged from hospital following treatment for a laceration to their head from a bottle.

Store security also prevented a slightly older couple from stealing steaks.

The Lidl branch in Bishopsworth was closed after the incident.

Shoppers were unable to return as it remained cordoned off for all of this morning.
