’Makes me sick with RAGE’: Richard Tice lets rip at ‘lefty luvvies’ in furious rant after 12 migrants die in Channel tragedy

Richard Tice told GB News he is “sick with rage and fury” after at least 12 migrants were confirmed dead.

They died after their boat sank trying to cross the English Channel.

The French coastguard confirmed the deaths after up to 65 people were rescued off the coast of Cap Gris-Nez on Tuesday.

Speaking to Jacob Rees-Mogg, Tice took aim at “lefty luvvies” and groups like Care4Calais who he says are facilitating migrants making the perilous journey.

“It’s utterly horrific”, he said.

“The only way the deaths will stop is if you pick up and take these people back.

“Do you know what makes me sick with fury and rage? It’s the bleating and whining from people like Care4Calais and the Refugee Council and do-good bodies who say we need more legal routes.

“These lefty luvvie lawyers keep stopping what needs to be done to be compassionate and stop the deaths.

“This is compounded by the fact that the men on these boats are taking the life jackets and leaving women and children completely defenceless.”

GB News’s Jacob Rees-Mogg waded in on the discussion to take aim at the Government, saying they are guilty of adopting “platitudes” as opposed to an actual strategy for dealing with the gangs that help migrants cross the Channel illegally.

Tice added: “What we’re seeing is the numbers increasing. The gangs are far from scared about the Home Secretary.

“They are saying, ’this is an opportunity, the deterrent is going away and the likelihood of being granted asylum has increased under this new Government’.

“They’re cramming these single-use dinghies with people.”

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper branded the incident “horrifying and deeply tragic” as she said “vital” efforts to dismantle “dangerous and criminal smuggler gangs” and to boost border security “must proceed apace”.

French interior minister Gerald Darmanin described it as a “terrible shipwreck”, adding in a post on X, formerly Twitter: “The provisional toll stands at 12 dead, two missing and several injured.

“All government services are mobilised to find the missing and take care of the victims.”

Home Office figures show 351 people made the journey in six boats on Monday, taking the provisional total for 2024 to date 21,403.
