Michelle Dewberry has given an insight into the ‘Uniting the Kingdom’ march organised by Tommy Robinson in London over the weekend branding mainstream media’s coverage of the event as “simply not true.”
Thousands of people gathered at Trafalgar Square in central London on Saturday after a march for what Robinson claimed was the “biggest patriotic rally” the UK had ever seen.
Around 1,000 police officers were deployed to the streets of the capital to “keep the peace” amid expected counter-demonstrations by protest groups Stand Up To Racism and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s Peace & Justice Project.
Dewberry, who went to Trafalgar Square to “judge” the event, said that the demonstration was wrongfully branded as “racist” and “far-right.”
I was in London today so went along, alone, to Trafalgar Square to see/judge it for myself.
I was there for just shy of 2 hours (it was too hot for me!) and in that time I saw old/young/disabled/veterans/different faiths & non; come together.

“People had travelled from far and wide and my experience of it was positive and enjoyable.
“Those people who are wrongly painting this event as ‘racist’ and ‘far right’ (and did so before it even began) maybe need to burst their bubble of prejudice and perhaps stop being so judgemental, because from what I saw, it was nothing of the sort. If the critics had gone along, you never know – they too might just have enjoyed themselves!
“There is more that unites us than divides us…
“To those I spoke to today, I enjoyed our conversations – thank you.”
Dewberry added a video to her post of protestors gathered in Trafalgar Square waving Union, English, Scottish and Welsh flags.
I worked on Sky News for a long time & to see them report like this ⬇️ saddens me, because it’s simply not true.
I’ll be covering yesterday’s Trafalgar Square event on my show tomorrow @GBNEWS 6pm. Come & join me there.
But for now, I’m off to enjoy the☀️
Have a good day all❤️ https://t.co/LhhhbGsjKS

In another post, Dewberry commented on a Sky News report of the rally stating: “I worked on Sky News for a long time & to see them report like this saddens me, because it’s simply not true.”
After the march in London, Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was arrested under anti-terror laws and later released on bail.
It followed a complaint after he allegedly screened a documentary against high court orders at the demonstration.
At least nine people were arrested on Saturday in London as the three protest groups clashed, according to the Metropolitan Police.
