Nigel Farage faces ‘attacks’ from people who ‘don’t embrace British values’ – Michelle Dewberry

Michelle Dewberry has claimed that Nigel Farage faces “attacks” from people who “don’t embrace British Values.”

Farage, leader of Reform UK, has been accused of stirring up online conspiracy theories and was called “Tommy Robinson in a suit” over comments he made about the Southport stabbings.

She said: “The way that societies and communities are changing that’s making many people uncomfortable.”

Reform UK, Chairman Zia Yusuf agreed: “I totally understand those concerns. I share those concerns.

“Reform, everybody involved in Reform and the four million people who voted Reform care deeply about British values.

“When our leader Nigel Farage asks questions of our authorities, he essentially gets shouted down saying how dare you question them.”

Michelle responded: “Nigel Farage was called Tommy Robinson in a suit today.”

Yusuf said: “All sorts of names, all sorts of attacks because those people are unwilling and unable to engage on the substance of the issues.

“Going back to the point about culture, whatever religion you have, whichever God you pray to, we have to focus on the things that we share.

“If you come to this country, you need to assimilate, you need to embrace British values.”

Michelle agreed: “People are not. It’s all well and good, that’s what you should do, but they’re not.

“Not only are they not assimilating, they actively despise Western values and want to cause harm to us as much as possible as a result.”

On Tuesday evening, a protest turned violent outside a Southport mosque after false online accusations the attacker was a Muslim refugee who came from Syria on a small boat last year.

Police said they believed the group were English Defence League (EDL) supporters and many had come from outside Merseyside.

Ahead of the protest, Farage said in a video: “I wonder whether the truth is being held from us, I don’t know.”

He also speculated about whether the stabbing suspect was being monitored by security services.
