Simone Biles was enraged by fans for ‘shushing’ in the middle of her routine at the Paris Olympics on Monday.

The 27-year-old fell off the balance beam as she failed to make it onto the medals podium for the first time this summer.

Biles briefly lost her footing and was forced to step off the beam while she performed her routine, with the Team USA star visibly unhappy in the aftermath.

Now, her team-mate Suni Lee has revealed Biles was unhappy at the actions of supporters who were ‘shushing’ inside the Bercy Arena.

“You could feel the tension in the room. I mean, the crowd shushing us for cheering,” said the 21-year-old.

“We did not like that, just because it’s just so silent in there. I love hearing my team-mates cheer for me.”

She continued: “Me and Simone were like, ‘Why are they shushing?’ Like, we’re just trying to cheer.

“But yeah, [Biles] came off and she was like, ‘I don’t know why they were shushing in the middle of my routine.'”

Lee and other members of Team USA had been cheering Biles on in the hope that she’d claim another gold medal.

But it appears the crowd weren’t happy, which is why the 27-year-old fell off the beam.

Lee, discussing the atmosphere further, said: “I feel like it was the pressure, the atmosphere.

“It was really silent when you get up there. I could literally hear myself breathing.”

Biles was beaten to the prize by Alice D’Amato, who claimed gold, while also missing out on a medal altogether.

The American was unhappy before participating in the event in France, with the decorated star taking to social media.

Biles hit out at journalists for asking athletes ‘what’s next’, insisting they should be allowed to ‘soak up the moment we’ve worked our whole lives for’.
