Sir Rod Stewart has been urged to “take care of yourself” as fans have been left “praying” following his latest health blow.
The 79-year-old admitted he was “absolutely gutted” to have to cancel an upcoming show after doctors diagnosed the rocker with strep throat.
News of Stewart’s decision to axe the gig comes just days after he addressed his health concerns in a new interview, claiming to be at ease with the fact his “days are numbered”.
While the Maggie May hitmaker has always insisted he has no desire to slow down and retire, his latest diagnosis has sparked concern over his touring future.
Stewart broke the news on Instagram with his 1.4 million followers, writing: “I’m desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration.
“Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me.
“I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.”
Looking ahead, Stewart signed off: “Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”
Stewart was of course referring to the fact he’d just announced The Encore Shows which would see him return to Las Vegas next year.
Before long, Stewart was inundated with concerned messages from fans, with many left worried given Aerosmith icon Steve Tyler recently had to retire from performing due to a vocal injury.
“Can’t mess with strep! It can be nasty. We’d rather get you healthy to sing to us for many more years!” one fan commented.
A second weighed in: “Look at Steve Tyler as an example who had to retire because he fractured his larynx …better to be safe than sorry…heal well…Sir Rod…”
“Take care and get well soon. We are all praying for you,” a third expressed before a fourth echoed: “Take care of yourself! What want you to be around as Long as possible.”
“I have tickets for tonight. Are they refundable? I’m so heartbroken, wishing you well,” added a fifth before a sixth worried fan typed: “Uh oh… Tyler is gone. Not Rod too!” (sic)
However, amid the support were some followers who cruelly taunted the singer and claimed his health woe was “karma” for his latest attack on Donald Trump while performing on stage.
Earlier on during his residency in Vegas, Stewart projected a series of images of Trump onto the stage where he mocked his appearance.

Trump supporters angrily condemned Stewart’s decision to wade into political debate, especially given the fact he’d already faced “booing” this year for his Ukrainian stance when performing in Germany.
Regarding his health and the admission about his days “being numbered”, Stewart opened up to The Sun: “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear.
“We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can.
“I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”
