A ride at a Skegness theme has malfunctioned leaving horrified visitors suspended in the air in a “major incident”.
Police were called to Skegness Pleasure Beach in Lincolnshire and are currently attempting to “rescue” the people stuck on the ride.
Officers from Lincolnshire Police have said that around 20 people are stuck on the ride.
No injuries as of yet have been reported.
People have been asked to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the situation.
A spokesperson for Skegness Police said: “We are attending an incident at Skegness Pleasure Beach where a ride has malfunctioned and remains suspended in the air with a number of people stuck on the ride.
“Fire and ambulance are also attending.
“We ask members of the public to please avoid the area whilst emergency services work together to ensure the safety of the people on the ride whilst they are being rescued.
“No serious injuries have currently been reported.”
Tower Esplanade, a 324m structure right next to the park, has reportedly been shut following the incident.
Vehicles including a crane also said to have arrived at the scene.
There are currently heavily delays on all routes leading to the Pleasure Beach as the emergency rescue operations continues, with South Parade, Lumley Road, and Wainfleet Road among the routes heavily affected.
The theme park, located just next to Skegness Beach, boasts an array of roller coasters, fairground games, and an arcade.
It was purchased by Botton’s in 1965, who have been running it ever since.
