Brian Mr Gee – Founder of DanceFMLive

Brian Mr Gee is a Blackpool-based uplifting trance DJ, radio presenter, producer and founder of DanceFMLive — @ The Very Heart of Dance Music.

From school discos and pirate-radio inspiration in Leeds to studios in Portsmouth and today’s multi-stream DanceFMLive network, his journey has always centred on sharing energetic, emotional dance music.

From Leeds to the Decks

Brian’s love of music took hold in Leeds during the early 1990s. He began DJing at school events and helping with student radio, while stations such as Dream FM 107.8 opened his ears to the energy and community surrounding underground dance music.

Those early experiences sparked a lasting ambition: to build a radio station where passionate DJs could share the music they genuinely love.

Building a Life in Radio

After moving to Portsmouth at 16, Brian developed his skills in pubs, clubs and venues around Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. He later ran a mobile DJ venture and gained valuable broadcasting experience with stations including Express FM and Pure FM.

In 2009 he launched Hardcore FM. By late 2011 the station had evolved into DanceFMLive, widening its sound while keeping the same independent spirit. Brian moved to Blackpool in 2016, where the station continues as a multi-stream online dance music network.

The Essential Vibe

The Essential Vibe is Brian’s long-running uplifting trance show. Regular Friday-night broadcasts are currently taking a break while he continues recovering from a back injury, but past editions remain available online and occasional live mixes continue when possible.

The show reflects what DanceFMLive stands for: emotional melodies, driving rhythms and a genuine connection between presenter, artist and listener.

Music, Community and What Comes Next

Beyond radio, Brian produces music and supports independent releases through Essential Trance Recordings. Community has always mattered too: in July 2011 he organised a charity club night at Fin’s Bar in Southsea in memory of his sister Maureen, raising support for Cancer Research UK.

Today his focus is on strengthening DanceFMLive, championing dance music and giving DJs and listeners a welcoming place to connect.
